TUXEDO INFORMATION:

Men in all choirs are required to wear a black tuxedo, white shirt, black bowtie, black socks and black dress shoes.  NO TENNIS SHOES!!  Elite Tuxedo offers Samohi music students a very convenient tuxedo rental package. Tuxedo rental for the entire school year is $99. Rental includes tuxedo jacket, pants, white tuxedo shirt and black bow tie. Both new and used tuxedo shoes are available for purchase. Elite will be on campus in the beginning of the year to measure those men wishing to rent or purchase a tuxedo. If you prefer, you can visit Elite Tuxedo at 2074 Westwood Blvd.. Be sure to call ahead (310) 474-9090 and tell them you’re a Samohi music student.

There is important information in emails regarding choir events, rehearsals, call times, trips, fundraisers etc... In your first day
packet is a Family Information Form and everyone must complete
the form (both returning and new choir students).
 
Returning Choir Students:

The Application Process:
The performing arts program includes ballet, non-classical dance, classical voice, non-classical voice, classical instrumental and jazz instrumental. All preliminary participants receive a performance evaluation letter by mail plus the opportunity to observe specific master classes. All who advance to the semi-final level participate in professional master classes to be held from January - March 2011.

Twelve finalists will be selected, two from each category. The twelve students selected as finalists will be showcased at a gala performance at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Saturday, April 30, 2011. First grand prizes receive $5,000 scholarships and the second grand prizes receive $4,000 scholarships. Semi-finalists receive $100 scholarships and Honorable Mentions receive $250 scholarships.

The two-dimensional design and photography program offer young artists and photographers the opportunity to have their work viewed by a panel of prominent museum curators, artists and designers as well as professional photographers and collectors. All applicants are invited to attend master classes and museum tours. All who advance to the semi-final level will have their artwork hung in a prominent Southern California Gallery. First grand prizes receive $5,000 scholarships and the second grand prizes receive $4,000 scholarships.

Semi-finalists receive $100 scholarships and Honorable Mentions receive $250 scholarships.
